Sunday BestJournalThe Chicago-based carrier will fly weekly from O'Hare to Bermuda on Saturdays starting April 3 and add three routes from San Francisco, including new Charleston service.

United Airlines will launch once-weekly Saturday flights between Chicago O’Hare and Bermuda’s L.F. Wade airport from April 3, 2027, the Bermuda Tourism Authority said. The Boeing 737 route will run for the summer, adding to the carrier’s Newark/New York–Bermuda operation. A BTA spokesperson said the new nonstop adds a direct link from the island to a major American travel market and gives Chicago-area passengers a one-seat option, while making Bermuda reachable through United’s broader network. O’Hare is a United hub with onward service to cities in the Midwest and other regions, the spokesperson said. Flights opened for booking on October 22 at united.com, subject to government approval. Bermuda is about 650 miles from the coast of North Carolina.
Separately, United detailed three routes from San Francisco International Airport, first reported by Ishrion Aviation. From March 28, the carrier will fly daily to Hartford’s Bradley International Airport and daily to Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City. Four weekly round trips to Charleston International Airport in South Carolina will begin the same day and run through Nov. 29.
United will use Boeing 737 family aircraft on three of the four new routes: Chicago-Bermuda, San Francisco-Hartford and San Francisco-Charleston. The San Francisco-Oklahoma City service will be operated with an Embraer 175 regional jet.
Two of the San Francisco routes are resumptions, according to The Points Guy. United last flew San Francisco-Hartford in 2018, and its San Francisco-Oklahoma City flights stopped in April 2020 in the early phase of the pandemic. The Charleston nonstop gives Bay Area travelers a new connection to the South Carolina coast.
Bermuda’s tourism minister Owen Darrell said the new gateway gives Bermuda a chance to introduce the island to more travellers and support the businesses that rely on tourism. United senior manager Tom Kozlowski said the route gives customers across the Midwest a convenient way to experience the island, and Bermuda Tourism Authority chief executive Jan Hutton said the authority’s focus now is building awareness and working with industry partners. The route remains subject to government approval.
